Help Raise $7,111.13 for Hilary’s Medical Expenses

I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’m assuming many of you know me personally and have heard a bit about what has been going on.

If not, the quick version is for the last 2.5 years I have been slowly getting sicker and sicker. Last September, I had my gallbladder removed and we thought the problem was solved. It wasn’t. In June of this year, I became worse, and by July I have been unable to work.

While Luke has been a great support, I am financially stressed as I have no income and my medical expenses are costing a lot of money.

I have been to over a dozen doctors, am on my 5th diagnosis (Fibromyalgia is the most current), and we are still not sure what is wrong with me (Fibromyalgia is usually a catch all when they don’t really know what is wrong with you). I have pain daily and it is effecting my ability to walk, use my hands, and I’m suffering from depression and anxiety.

I am currently working with a Neurologist, two Therapists, both for individual and couples counseling, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and a Physical Therapist weekly.  I have a appointments with two other Neurologists in the valley and in January I’m heading to San Diego to go to the medical research center of UCSD.

Sometimes a small thing you do can mean everything in another person’s life.

I’m fighting my butt off to get better. You can bet every bit of your donation will go towards that.

Truthfully, it is embarrassing having to ask. I’ve been working on this page for awhile now, and I’m so scared to publish it. At the same time, I know I most likely won’t be able to do this journey alone, and many of you have offered to help or have helped me one way or another. I’m very grateful for all of you.

I know money can be tight for all of us, which is why I hate asking. If you find yourself willing to skip some Starbucks coffee or go out to eat a few less times to help me out, it would mean everything to me. Even a little bit helps.

What Your Donations Will Go Towards

Medical Expenses

Medical copays, deductibles, prescription meds, non prescription meds, natural remedies, other items not covered by insurance, etc for 2015.

Trip to San Diego

Visiting two medical specialists in San Diego at the UCSD Medical Center. This will cover hotel stay and food while we are there. Luke is taking a day off of work and driving me there.

Help for 3 Months

My best friend has agreed to come out here from January to March in order to help me drive to doctors appointments and other things around the house. We are trying to raise money for half of his ticket from Dublin.

Because of this experience, I will be writing a book titled “Fighting for Your Health.”  It will include my experience working with insurance, how to find what the system can provide for you, how to find the right doctors (both natural and traditional medicine) and how to educate yourself so you can be your own advocate.

Anybody who donates $100 or more will receive a copy of my book, once published, either in paperback or by e-book.

If you have a health issue that you are just “living with”, don’t. Be a demand to yourself and others for answers.

If you would rather buy me something I can use instead of donating money, that would help too.  Feel free to look at my Wish List for medical items I am looking to purchase.
